Culture Connects – African Knowledge Meets Art

On May 16, 2025, we were honored to dive into the fascinating worldview of the Bantu peoples. One key insight: the philosophical connection between an original androgynous state and the meanings of masculine and feminine. A night that nourished both body and mind — and challenged our Eurocentric ways of thinking.

Huge thanks to moriS.D for the captivating artwork and enlightening talk.

Let’s continue to create spaces where African knowledge is seen and heard — beyond stereotypes and colonial narratives.

goEast Festival

April 23, 2025
Culture, Cinema, Class!

The board of KIBA e.V. attended the ceremonial opening of the goEast Film Festival in Wiesbaden – and we were honored not only as partners, but also as an amazed audience.

On the program: the Georgian silent film “MY GRANDMOTHER” from 1929 – a visual masterpiece full of satire, social criticism, and surreal humor. The whole thing was accompanied by the furious Finnish band Cleaning Women, who rocked with homemade instruments made from recycled materials.

Even almost 100 years later, the film hits right at the heart of the bureaucracy-absurdistan debate.

Thanks to goEast for the platform that provides space for stories from Eastern Europe. And thanks to everyone who makes art, exchange, and criticism possible.

Stress Management

April 18, 2025
Stress Management – What is Stress?

We explored a topic that accompanies many of us daily: stress – its causes, its effects on the body and mind, and how we can better cope with it.

An interactive keynote speech and lively discussions addressed, among other questions:
What exactly is stress?
How do I recognize that I am stressed – physically and mentally?
What stresses arise from social, professional, or personal demands?
And, above all, what strategies help us better cope with stress in everyday life?

A key conclusion of the evening: Stress is not just an individual problem, but is also exacerbated by the circumstances. Those who want to live a healthy life in the long term need not only personal tools – but also structural changes.

Many thanks to all participants for the open exchange and great interest! We look forward to the next events – together for greater awareness, health, and social responsibility.

Career paths for migrants

April 4, 2025
CARE NEEDS MIGRANTS – AND MIGRANTS NEED OPPORTUNITIES!

Today at KIBA e.V. in Wiesbaden, we demonstrated how integration and career prospects go hand in hand!

At our information event “Career Paths for Migrants,” we spoke with many interested participants about the future of geriatric care – an industry that is desperately seeking skilled workers and offers migrants a secure, meaningful, and fulfilling career.

Why is this important? – Germany needs skilled workers – especially in nursing!
– Migrants bring talent, empathy, and motivation.
– Politics and society must finally create clear paths for professional integration!

Our message to politicians: Make access to nursing professions easier! Less bureaucracy, faster recognition of qualifications, better support for training!

Thanks to Mission Leben Academy for Nursing and Social Professions for the valuable insights!

Women's Discussion Club

March 22, 2025

Let’s talk about the end – before it’s too late!

Yesterday, we had an important discussion with a Protestant pastor about something many avoid: Death and what needs to be done beforehand.

For migrants in Germany, there are many questions: What documents are needed? Who arranges the funeral? Is confession or last rites possible?

One thing is clear: Being prepared means less stress for loved ones. So let’s talk openly – before others decide for us.

What do you think? Should we discuss death more in society?

Career paths for migrants

Career paths for migrants

Find a job, build a future!
We discussed with the IHK and start2connect how migrants can quickly enter the job market. The key approach: Start working first, then learn German & upskill!

Germany needs skilled workers – so let’s cut the red tape and create opportunities! We need solutions, not obstacles.

What do you think? Should jobs come before perfect language skills?

International Women's Day

March 8, 2025
Strong women, strong voices, strong art – and a bit of jazz!
Yesterday we not only celebrated International Women’s Day, but also showed that diversity is our greatest strength! With wonderful painters, the great jazz band Maratea and exciting guests such as city councilor Milena Löbcke, mayoral candidate Gesine Bonett, Rose-Lore Scholz from the Women’s Union and our inspiring guest speaker Ibrahim Kizilgöz from the Foreigners’ Advisory Council, the afternoon was a real highlight. We discussed together, laughed and of course talked a little about politics – because equality never takes a break and feminism knows no borders! Thanks to everyone who was there – next year again? We have a few more ideas…

Work

Strong women, strong voices - for a fairer working world!

On January 24, 2025, at our event “Practicing a good job interview” we supported seven impressive women with a migration background to appear confident and present their strengths. Because we know: competence has no origin – but unfortunately opportunities are not equally distributed for everyone.

Many migrant women experience hurdles in the job market – from prejudices to unequal career opportunities. We will not accept that! With knowledge, empowerment and mutual support, we are committed to a society in which everyone has the same opportunities.

Thank you to all participants for their courage and energy! 💜
