Literature Café
The Literature Café is a monthly forum for encounters and participation that combines literature, storytelling, and dialogue. People with and without migration experience bring stories from their countries of origin, from their everyday lives, or from world literature. These texts are read aloud, told, or explored together.
These stories spark conversations about values, identity, coexistence, democracy, and personal experiences. The atmosphere is open, respectful, and accessible. No one needs to speak perfect German, and no one is expected to “achieve” anything. Every voice counts.
Volunteers moderate, organize, and facilitate the event. They create a safe space where freedom of expression, critical thinking, and mutual respect become second nature.

To conclude 2025, we paused to reflect, look back, and celebrate together at our year-end event and Christmas party.
In a festive atmosphere, volunteers, members, friends, and supporters of KIBA e.V. came together to make encounters, learning, and community visible and tangible. Musical accompaniment, finger food, and good conversation created space for exchange, appreciation, and new connections.
A special highlight of the evening was the premiere of our KIBA year-in-review film, which impressively demonstrated how diverse, dedicated, and vibrant our entirely volunteer-run work was in 2025 – from cultural events and counseling services to empowerment and community engagement programs.

The film shows what it means to gain a foothold in a new country, to build bridges, and to preserve one’s own identity.
Here, art becomes a resonance chamber for social reality: It makes visible, audible, and tangible what often remains unsaid – and reminds us that every story deserves a voice.

German-Georgian Cultural Evening
An Evening of Soul and Sound
On 19 September 2025, so many came to our German-Georgian Cultural Night in Wiesbaden that the chairs were not enough.
Poetry – tender and powerful in the Georgian tongue, beautifully accompanied by music and translated into German – touched us all deeply.
Language is so much more than a tool of communication. It is a cosmos of its own, a reality that unfolds when words resound and hearts respond.
May we preserve and rediscover these realities – out of reverence for ancient, living culture, but also because they gift us unforgettable moments. Just like this night.

Intercultural Women's Cinema in Dialogue "Made in Bangladesh"
On September 5, 2025 we invited to a moving film evening: Made in Bangladesh. The film tells the story of a young seamstress in Dhaka who fights for her rights and the dignity of her colleagues. With courage and determination, she fights against exploitative working conditions and embarks on the dangerous path to founding a union.
At the same time, the film sheds light on the reality of many women in Bangladesh and rural India – how they are still often treated with indignity and injustice, but also how legislative initiatives in the respective countries are trying to combat these injustices.
Following the screening, we engaged in a lively discussion with our guests about women’s rights, global justice, consumer responsibility, and the power of solidarity movements. A heartfelt thank you to our supporters and all attendees for their openness, their questions, and the intensive exchange. An evening full of impressions, engagement and dialogue – across borders.

Intercultural Women's Cinema in Dialogue - Iranian Evening
On July 26, 2025, we hosted a special film evening about the lives of women in Iran – moving, topical, and profound.
We screened two short films about women in Iran, including an exclusive film, the premiere of a film shot secretly and at great risk in Iran, which was only shown here, a work provided to us directly by the director.
The evening was accompanied by intense discussions, enriched by delicious Iranian food and a rousing dance performance that rounded off the program in a fitting atmosphere.
A heartfelt thank you to our cooperation partners, especially FrauenWelten e.V. and the Iranian Women’s Initiative Group Frankfurt am Main, as well as to all the guests who joined us yesterday – for their openness, interest, and valuable conversations.

Together, we watched the first feminist film of the Soviet Union: “Some Interviews on Personal Matters” – filmed in 1978 in Georgia, banned during Soviet times, and yet still strikingly relevant today.
Women speak about marriage, freedom, and everyday life – courageous, intelligent, and unapologetically honest.
Back then, revolutionary. Today, essential.

HEALTH AFFECTS US ALL – BUT NOT EVERYONE HAS ACCESS!
On June 7, 2025, we addressed a crucial topic: How does the healthcare system in Germany work? What kind of insurance do I need – and how can I get it?
In our workshop, we were able to answer important questions, reduce fears, and present practical pathways – for more security in everyday life and real participation!
Why is this important?
– Many migrants are unaware of their rights in the healthcare system.
– Without health insurance, there is no medical care – an unacceptable situation!
– Education, counseling, and political solutions are urgently needed!
Our message:
Health is a human right – not a privilege! We support newcomers on their path.

Culture Connects – African Knowledge Meets Art
On May 16, 2025, we were honored to dive into the fascinating worldview of the Bantu peoples. One key insight: the philosophical connection between an original androgynous state and the meanings of masculine and feminine. A night that nourished both body and mind — and challenged our Eurocentric ways of thinking.
Huge thanks to moriS.D for the captivating artwork and enlightening talk.

goEast Festival
April 23, 2025
Culture, Cinema, Class!
The board of KIBA e.V. attended the ceremonial opening of the goEast Film Festival in Wiesbaden – and we were honored not only as partners, but also as an amazed audience.
On the program: the Georgian silent film “MY GRANDMOTHER” from 1929 – a visual masterpiece full of satire, social criticism, and surreal humor. The whole thing was accompanied by the furious Finnish band Cleaning Women, who rocked with homemade instruments made from recycled materials.
Even almost 100 years later, the film hits right at the heart of the bureaucracy-absurdistan debate.
Thanks to goEast for the platform that provides space for stories from Eastern Europe. And thanks to everyone who makes art, exchange, and criticism possible.

Stress Management – What is Stress?
We explored a topic that accompanies many of us daily: stress – its causes, its effects on the body and mind, and how we can better cope with it.
An interactive keynote speech and lively discussions addressed, among other questions:
What exactly is stress?
How do I recognize that I am stressed – physically and mentally?
What stresses arise from social, professional, or personal demands?
And, above all, what strategies help us better cope with stress in everyday life?
A key conclusion of the evening: Stress is not just an individual problem, but is also exacerbated by the circumstances. Those who want to live a healthy life in the long term need not only personal tools – but also structural changes.

Yesterday, we had an important discussion with a Protestant pastor about something many avoid: Death and what needs to be done beforehand.
For migrants in Germany, there are many questions: What documents are needed? Who arranges the funeral? Is confession or last rites possible?
One thing is clear: Being prepared means less stress for loved ones. So let’s talk openly – before others decide for us.

Strong women, strong voices - for a fairer working world!
On January 24, 2025, at our event “Practicing a good job interview” we supported seven impressive women with a migration background to appear confident and present their strengths. Because we know: competence has no origin – but unfortunately opportunities are not equally distributed for everyone.
Many migrant women experience hurdles in the job market – from prejudices to unequal career opportunities. We will not accept that! With knowledge, empowerment and mutual support, we are committed to a society in which everyone has the same opportunities.

We are pleased to announce that we have launched an exciting new project on September 14, 2024: the Women’s Discussion Club!
Today we had the chairwoman of the board of the association “Georgians in Dresden e.V.”, Ms. Irma Tchankoshvili, as a guest, who connected us online with women from Saxony in the Women’s Discussion Club. Our topic today was “Hurdles for migrant women in the world of work.”
We discussed intensively and in the end found that the German language is by far the biggest hurdle.

On June 14th, 2024, a wonderful concert with the Georgian ensemble “Musikeli” took place in the rooms of the Wiesbaden-Biebrich Neighborhood House. There were also very interesting lectures, beautiful works of art, typical Georgian food and excellent Georgian wine.

Health workshop for migrants
The project aims to strengthen the health literacy of migrants, for example in the areas of nutrition and women’s health. The project goes beyond the mere transfer of information and knowledge by external specialists and anchors the topic of health in everyday life. Participants receive basic information on the proposed topics and learn administrative steps to apply them in their daily lives.
On 16 December 2023, we held our health workshop for migrants on the topic of healthy eating in everyday life.
