Georgian Film Days in Wiesbaden – 26 and 27 September 2026

On 26 and 27 September 2026, the Georgian Film Days at the Murnau Film Theatre in Wiesbaden will present three outstanding works of Georgian cinema.

The programme begins on Saturday, 26 September, at 4:00 p.m. with a reception featuring Georgian wine and selected specialities. At 4:45 p.m., the screening of Repentance (Monanieba) by Tengiz Abuladze will follow – a powerful film about power, memory, responsibility and the confrontation with a difficult past.

On Sunday, 27 September, the programme continues at 5:30 p.m. with The First Swallow – How Football Came to Georgia by Nana Mchedlidze. With humour and warmth, the film tells the story of the founding of one of Georgia’s first football teams despite resistance, financial difficulties and scepticism. 
At 8:15 p.m., Eldar Shengelaia’s Blue Mountains or An Unbelievable Story will conclude the programme – a subtle and absurd satire about bureaucracy, indifference and a young writer whose manuscript no one seems willing to read.

The Georgian Film Days bring together film, culture and personal encounter, while offering insights into Georgian history, society and everyday life.
